Blend mode — chemical and thermal destruction in a single insertion

Feature
Direct current and radio frequency are delivered simultaneously through one probe. Factory reference setting: 45% energy, 0.2 s per insertion.
Advantage
Galvanic action decomposes the follicle chemically while RF heat coagulates the protein — faster than pure electrolysis, more complete than pure thermolysis.
Benefit
Distorted, deep and coarse follicles clear in fewer insertions, so a full-face course completes in fewer sessions and chair time per client falls.
Evidence
Blend has been the professional benchmark since Hinkel's 1948 method; combined chemical degradation and thermal coagulation is what allows one insertion to destroy one follicle outright.

Independent of hair colour and skin tone

Feature
Energy travels mechanically down the follicle through a fine probe. Nothing is absorbed by melanin, so pigment plays no part in the treatment.
Advantage
Performance is identical on white, grey, blonde and red hair, and on Fitzpatrick I–VI including tanned and deeply pigmented skin.
Benefit

Treatment protocol

Consultation and assessment

Review medical history, allergies and current medication, and exclude the contraindications listed below. Assess hair colour, thickness and density with skin type, then build the treatment plan. Explain session duration, sensation and expected skin reaction, and take written informed consent.

Preparation

Cleanse with an alcohol-free antibacterial cleanser to remove sebum and cosmetic residue. Hair must not be plucked, waxed or epilated beforehand — the follicle has to be present. Topical anaesthetic may be applied around 30 minutes ahead where site and tolerance warrant it.

Device set-up

Power on and confirm the self-check completes without error. Select gender and zone, choose the modality, and set energy and exposure from the reference values. Open a fresh sterile probe in front of the client and fit the diameter matched to the hair.

Insertion

Insert slowly at 30–45° along the growth direction, to 2–4 mm, until the probe reaches the dermal papilla. The insertion should meet no resistance; surrounding tissue must not be pierced.

Delivery and verification

Actuate via the foot pedal and observe the client's expression and the skin throughout. Release at the end of the pre-set duration, then lift the hair with sterile forceps. Effortless, painless release confirms the follicle has been destroyed; resistance means re-treatment, not traction.

Contraindications

Absolute

  • Cardiac pacemakers and other implanted electronic devices
  • History of epilepsy or seizure disorder
  • Known allergy to metals used in the probe
  • Pregnancy and lactation

Defer or refer

  • Acute infection, or active herpes at or near the site
  • Coagulation disorders, or current anticoagulant therapy
  • Broken, inflamed or recently treated skin in the area
  • Any case where medical clearance has not been obtained
Beard-line treatment. The probe follows the hair into the follicle; nothing is applied to the skin surface.
Aftercare
First 24 h Keep clean and dry; no water contact, bathing or swimming
24–48 h Cool compresses for mild erythema or swelling; bland soothing gel, lotion or cream as needed
Avoid Cosmetics, perfume and alcohol-containing moisturisers on the area; friction from tight clothing
Sun SPF 30+ / PA+++ plus hats or physical cover; avoid direct exposure for several weeks
Normal reaction Mild redness and small crusts; crusts must not be picked or removed
Escalate Marked swelling or any purulent discharge — refer to the treating clinician immediately
Next session 8–10 weeks for the same area
